    Paul Blobel was a German military criminal who played a significant role in the Holocaust during World War II.

    Born on December 1, 1931, Blobel pursued a career as an architect before becoming involved with the Nazi Party and the SS.

    Involvement in Mass Killings

    Blobel joined the Nazi Party (membership number 844,662) and the SS (membership number 29,100) on the same day, December 1, 1931.

    He rose to the rank of Standartenführer in the SS on January 30, 1941. In his role as the leader of an Einsatzkommando, Blobel was responsible for orchestrating mass killings of Jews in Ukraine, including the infamous Babyn Yar massacre on September 29-30, 1941, alongside units from the Kiev detachment led by P.
